Rehousing of the family Florin
– a completed project
When NTC’s workers met the family Florin for the first time, it consisted of mother and father, three children aged 1½ years, 4 years and 6 years and child number four coming soon.
They lived in a house that belonged to the farm, Florin and his wife looked after cows, that was theit job. The salary for this work was to be allowed to live in his house, otherwise there was no income.
The house was dilapidated, leaky and damp, the electrical wiring was hanging visible under the roof, water ran down the walls and there was fungus in the house. There was no toilet and the family’s kitchen consisted of a small rusty fuel stove that stood in the room, which was also their living room and bedroom. The children and the father suffered from respiratory problems caused by poor housing conditions. The oldest of the children should be started school, but because of the distance and the economy, this was not possible.
A project was initiated with the goal to relocate the family. Fundraising was started and we also started to look for a better house.
Meanwhile NTC helped the family with urgent needs, such as clothing and blankets.
Over the next year a house was found, and negotiations took place and the paperwork was done, so the house could be purchased and transferred to Florin.
It succeeded and the family, now six people, moved into the village Cuceu.
In April 2011, NTC’s employees visited the family. They are doing well, they have cultivated the large garden belonging to the house, so they are self-sufficient in vegetables. The two oldest children can go to the village school and they have a social network.
